Data & Impact: Amplifying Solutions for Affordable Housing and Homelessness

CLIENT: Affordable Housing Association of Nova Scotia (AHANS)

YEAR: 2025 and ongoing

PROJECTS: Strategic Communications, Video Messaging, and Research for Affordable Housing Association of Nova Scotia

LOCATION: Nova Scotia

PRACTICE AREAS: Strategy & Action Plan Development, Policy Research & Options Analysis, Outcomes & Impact Assessment, Performance Measurement & KPIs, Narrative & Message Development

ATN Strategies has delivered comprehensive and multifaceted support to the Affordable Housing Association of Nova Scotia (AHANS) through an integrated series of projects, positioning AHANS as the leading authority on affordable housing and homelessness in Nova Scotia.  ATN has collaborated with AHANS to enhance its public profile, inform policy, and amplify its impact within the sector.

One major area of work is the development of Point in Time (PiT) Count video and messaging. ATN designed and produced both short-form and long-form video communications that highlight the findings and significance of the PiT Count.

ATN is also conducting in-depth research into the cost of homelessness in Halifax, contrasting current expenditures with the measurable benefits of investing in supportive housing. The findings will equip AHANS with robust, actionable insights designed to inform government, funders, and the public

In addition, ATN provides ongoing monthly strategic communications advisory services, supporting AHANS’s ATN-authored comprehensive communications and engagement strategy. As part of this partnership, ATN has helped develop an 18-month strategic roadmap that prioritizes professional, data-driven, and solutions-focused messaging.

Taken together, these streams of work underscore a long-term commitment to position AHANS as the gold standard for data, advocacy, and leadership in affordable housing and homelessness solutions in Nova Scotia. Through targeted communications, rigorous research, and ongoing strategic advice, ATN is helping AHANS shift both the narrative and the policy landscape, increasing the organization’s capacity to drive sustainable change and positive outcomes for the community.
