Charlie Byrne
Strategic Advisor
A former Special Advisor to Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, Charlie is the lead on all our files in Newfoundland and Labrador. His experience and understanding of both government relations and communications is bolstered by his extensive network of contacts in Ottawa and St. John’s within the political and bureaucratic realms. As an advisor to the Minister, Charlie worked on regional issues related to Newfoundland and Labrador and has a deep understanding of the economic fabric of the province. He managed stakeholder relations for the Minister and dealt as the liaison with many industries across the province.
Charlie has led files in various industries including renewable energy, oil and gas, fisheries, and asset management since joining the m5 Public Affairs team. He was deeply involved in the wind and hydrogen process in the province, representing major industry players as their voice to the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Charlie is a graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland with a degree in Business Administration and Mount St. Vincent University with a Master of Public Relations where his research focuses on the effective use of social media in crisis communication. He also serves as a volunteer on the Board of Directors of the Rennie’s River Quidi Vidi Development Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern NL, and the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra.
Charlie collaborates with ATN Strategies on strategic planning, economic development, the green economy and community impact in Newfoundland and Labrador.
